Nee Say

My name is Nee Say, and I was born in Ga Le Te in a jungle. My house was built out of bamboo and the roof was leaves. I am the only child and my parents were farmers  and they planted rice fields. When I was young I helped my parents by cutting grass and farming. I knew how to cook at 11 years old and my mom taught me. The food I missed were fish and water snails. To buy food, I would walk for 3 days to get there. I did not go to school, because we had to run away from Burmese people shooting at us. When I hung out with my friends as kids we would talk and work together. I have three children and I told them to go to school, and taught them to work hard and how to cook. I worship on Sunday. I miss the time of being young, when I worked together with my friends. I came to America because the Burmese soldiers invaded our hometown. America is a good place to live, but  not knowing the language is really hard for me.
